About the work
Lights:
I use images as effects, the choice of which is dependent upon the statement I am
making.
There are turn ons and turn offs; the viewer is seduced on one level, but
the medium is cold and surface.
The images lure the viewer, but deny the pleasure
of the texture of the handmade, the quality of the 'real'.
A minimalist type language
is appropriated for expressing psychological conditions and states that feature in
the work as a subtext; feelings of denial, detachment, loss, banality, complacency,
opposition and contradiction.
The witty element is increasingly essential and takes
the form of irony or parody.
